About me

Thank you for visiting my Manenok’s Kitchen blog. Please let me share with you a little bit about me. And I hope you’ll feel comfortable to introduce yourself as well. My name is Gina Olofson aka “Manenok” from San Carlos California, USA. What is Manenok? well…It means “little wet chicken” in Tagalog, (silly isn’t it?). When I was growing up in the Philippines some of my siblings and relatives called me Manenok. My sister Emma who lives in Lathrop, still calls me Manenok today. Manenok comes from Nene like a “little girl.” Growing up, we kids liked to play with words and my siblings put together Nene and Mane for me. So, I became “Manenok”.

I come from a big family. I have seven siblings and a lot of nieces and nephews… many of whom, I haven’t meet yet. I was born and raised in Manila, Philippines and migrated first to Saipan where I lived and worked for thirteen years and then to here, in the US in March of 1993. I recently became a US Citizen!

I own and operate a small business called CG Transpacific. What does CGT do? CG Transpacific supplies companies with products, focusing mainly on the equipment and components necessary for Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO). For example, we provide component circuitry (transistors, diodes, capacitors, MOSFETs, etc) as well as machinery components, testers, cleaning solvents and the like. Clients include suppliers to companies in the Philippines such as ABS-CBN, Manila Light Rail Agency and Coca Cola Bottling.

Although my business is small right now, I’m still hopeful and confident that my business will soon get much bigger and stronger!

I love to have fun and to do a lot of things, like…cooking, baking, mixing martinis (and drinking them too, “moderately”) playing badminton, biking, hosting a party and of course traveling!
